The Network Operations Center
The Network Operations Center, funded by
NIH, serves as the central point of contact for the 13 participating
PPRU sites. Facilitating communication among the sites and between
the sites and the sponsor, the Network Operations Center assists
in every aspect of study initiation, implementation, and completion.
The PPRU Network Operations Center has
responsibility for the following administrative activities:
- Coordinating and integrating PPRU operations
and studies.
- Facilitating and promoting communications
among the PPRU's, FDA, and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Ensuring completion of time and cost-effective
studies.
- Developing and implementing reliable and
timely information systems.
- Providing timely and accurate reports
to industry and the FDA.
The Network Operations Center is also responsible
for the quality assurance of the PPRU studies as encompassed
in the following:
- Developing appropriate guidelines for
study assessment.
- Ensuring that PPRU studies adhere to FDA
regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring PPRU performance with respect
to patient accrual, costs, and time lines; and study procedures,
protocol adherence, data quality, and processing and follow-up
adverse events.
